Friends of Buckden School Minutes

Monday 8^th September 2003

The committee would like to extent a warm welcome to Wendy Wiltshire.

Matters arising

Lottery – Next draw will be taken at half term and Christmas. New numbers on sale from October 2003.

Smarties – A reminder for any tube to be returned along with an update on the total amount raised for each house.

Quiz Night – 14^th November 2003 – Val James to confirm this licence together with Christmas and any other bookings arranged. Nicki to do poster.

Spice Inn – 20^th October 2003 – Bookings for tables – please see Mark or Amanda Freeman. Final numbers and deposit – full payment required by cheque to FOBS by 30^th September. Cheques in envelope with table numbers on please.

Thank you to Sally for buying all the Leavers’ Dictionaries and for Mark for Labelling them all.

Games for playground – request for Jenga, and Connect 4. School to order, as VAT then exempt. Speak to Jenny Mews at school. Action: Simon

Library School Service – School to have library re-furbished at a cost of £3,000.00.

School Trips – It was decided that swimming coaches would not be paid for, as it was too costly. Other small school trips would be paid for to benefit each year group i.e. Hinchingbrooke Park. Simon to confirm costs.

Summer Fayre – 20^th June 2004

Angie looked at Cub Leisure for new activities - quite costly so will look at other alternatives.

Marquee Hire - £10.00 a day – Nicki to do a flyer advertising this.

Christmas Fayre – 6^th December 2003

Need to approach stallholders from previous years.

Sub-committee urgently needed ASAP. Please see Amanda if you are interested.

A tea-towel design was shown at the meeting – need to look at quantities and the best deal around.

Cake Stall – Hardwick were the Winners – Congratulations!!

Parents to be advised of the amounts raised by each house. The cake stalls are to continue (dates to be decided). A big thank you to all those who helped to set up and sell the cakes, however, more helpers will be needed on the playground in the future.

Discos – 17^th October 2003 – Fancy Dress – helpers needed please. Poster needed.

Quiz Night – 14^th November 2003.

All future venues and dates will be decided at the forthcoming AGM on the 22^nd September 2003.

Playground

A huge thank you to ~Deborah for all her organisation and hard work prior to and during the summer break, together with Mark Duly for his continued and valued support. Thank you both, the playground is looking fantastic!

The following items need to be looked at now that school is back –

Tabletop games – quality?

Tables from Work Bridge – final price?

Water feature – safety of pebbles? Would a larger stone be safer and use the pebble for another feature?

Louise Farmer has taken over at the new “Health Promoting Schools co-ordinator”.

Can we please arrange for a meeting to establish action action plan for the next projects/costs. Amanda to speak to Louise and Deborah.

Nicky Gibbs is now Environmental Club Leader – liase to ensure work on pond is kept up-to-date and communication is consistent.

Website/Newsletter – Jeanette/Hayley to update for AGM please.

Can all committee members please attend AGM on Monday 22^nd September 2003 at 8pm.
