The Village Bistro, Little Paxton
I took my girlfriend to The Village Bistro at Little Paxton on Friday night to find that they have a new chef and a fantastic new menu with something for everyone. The food was very reasonably priced.
I had the fish dish on the specials board, which was beer-battered cod, homemade fat chips and smashed minted peas. Whereas my girlfriend had sage and ricotta stuffed chicken breast wrapped in Parma ham with crushed new potato, pancetta and watercress salad.
The service was spot on - very attentive but not overbearing. I recommend that you try the bistro - you will not be disappointed!
Poppadom in Huntingdon
The Poppadom in Huntingdon (attached to the Territorial) is BY FAR the best Indian cuisine in the area. The food is freshly cooked - with fresh ingredients - and every dish has its own character and flavour. The "deal" is second to none - and the service is far superior to what you might expect for the money.
I have eaten at the Poppadom with my family and friends on numerous occasions since it opened - and once you have tasted the Indian food at the Poppadom - you don't want to eat at any other local Indian. What's more - its consistently good.
OK the decor is very bland - and it does have the Territorial next door. But the service is excellent - the staff extremely friendly - and the food is nothing short of excellent - especially for the money. Superb!

Worth a visit The Village Bistro at the Conservatory Village, Little Paxton. Tel 01480 473322. Good food in very pleasant surroundings with music from a jazz trio for Sunday Lunch and some evenings. Good also for afternoon coffee.

Wheatsheaf - Perry
We recently took the family to the Wheatsheaf at Perry on a Wednesday night. Wednesday night is Fish and Chip night and as far as we could tell that is all that is served during the evening. The great news is that the Fish and Chips were terrific!! The pub was packed and we only just managed to get in without booking. Definately worth a visit if you fancy Fish and Chips on Wednesdays.
